Actemium supports Butachimie in the renovation of its control system
Launched in 2011, the MIRe project is one of the largest renovation projects of the French chemical industry in recent years. A project to replace the entire 125-hectare site control-command system, which produces 40% of the world’s demand for nylon salt. Actemium has migrated the current system to the Siemens PCS7 solution.
Butachimie is a joint venture between BASF (German) and INVISTA (US), it is the largest ADN production plant in the world and the only one in Europe. The MIRe project consists of the renovation of the industrial IT hardware and software of the entire Chalampé site. This significant renovation, known as system migration, involves revamping and replacing around a hundred control stations, which encompass 4,000 synoptics, a hundred PLC, and forty safety PLC.
Actemium was key during certain steps like retro-analysis: understanding the old system, translating and rewriting it in the new one; the planning of the project, as this type of project, takes a long time to complete but is implemented very quickly; the implementation of the simulation; the realization of FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests); and in the start-up of the installations.
Actemium’s expertise in the PCS7 was valuable to Butachimie, along with its project management, and they plan on carrying on this partnership based on trust and transparency in the future.
