Construction workers practice physical distancing
UptownBasel is currently the largest construction site in north-western Switzerland, the first new building should be ready by mid-2021. To sustain this time frame and to ensure the health of workers, investors and site managers, they are following extreme measures.
To attain this, Actemium and Axians, in cooperation with Fankhauser Arealentwicklungen, developed a device that monitors the distance between construction site workers while they work.
The technology is based on a self-designed electronic board embedded with a Bluetooth-chip that is attached to the workers’ safety helmet. If workers are less than two meters away from each other, the system emits a signal to alert them.
The prototypes are available and currently undergoing practical testing.
